Regular dental care is an important part of maintaining your horse’s long-term health, comfort and performance. We routinely use modern motorised dental equipment, which allows us to perform dental treatments more accurately and effectively than traditional hand rasps, while remaining well tolerated by most horses. We strongly recommend sedation for dental examinations and treatments, as this allows a far more thorough assessment of the mouth using a dental mirror and helps us identify subtle problems that may otherwise be missed. In some cases, particularly where there are concerns regarding performance, weight loss or signs of dental disease, we may also use a dental endoscope to examine individual teeth in greater detail. Routine dental treatment helps improve your horse’s ability to chew comfortably, reduces the risk of abnormal tooth wear and supports overall wellbeing.
